I may be biased--the Pilot Metro is the first fountain pen I bought. I do not have any plans to buy pens as an investment or ever spend over $50. I think this pen is perfect. I enjoy the weight of it and the length. It is a great looking pen--comes in a nice case with a refillable reservoir, although I have just been using the disposable. Personally I see no need for another fountain pen, unless maybe a finer nib size is needed. The price is so reasonable that I have bought several as gifts. I have purchased several other pens in similar to slightly higher price ranges. This one outshines them all, in my amateur opinion.

I can't believe how buttery this pen is. The weight is just right and nib excellent.

I write with this pen every day now. It's beautiful and writes smoothly. Like most fountain pens, it does leak a little on occasion, so I try to store it upright and prevent drops and other sudden movements. To keep the bottom of the pen clean and to write with a lighter weight pen, I keep it uncapped.

Love these Metropolitans, as they write like a dream, all the time. I've since purchased the aqua in a medium to test the difference. I love both nibs, just depends on my preference for the day. I put the Pilot Iroshizuku Murasaki-shikibu (violet) ink in it and it's beautiful, performs well, it caps with a nice click, and posts well but again I don't, as I don't want to create any scratches from posting. The violet is as lucious as it looks on my laptop and has a matte finish, very classy, especially when you consider it's under twenty bucks! Would make a nice gift. My sons birthday is next month, I'm getting him the Taupe/animal print, nice manly look with a nice weight in the hand.

Love it! Have had mine for a while, filled with Noodlers Purple Wampam. These pens are perfect for everyday, desk duty. I keep mine in my office on the desk inked and ready for use. Very happy with my purchase.

These are very nice.
Just a few things: the fine point is really fine, be sure you want really fine.
I am thinking that the medium is smoother, too.
The metal housing is very slippery. Believe me. Drop, drop, drop.
It takes the Con50, which seems to hold much more than the supplied converter.
I also got a Pilot Cavalier, which I like better, FWIW.

I've had my Metro in <F> for over 18 months now and it's still my most-used fountain pen. Rides in my shirt pocket at work and everything.

Great for practicing Japanese due to the thin nib, which has yet to snag on even poor quality paper.

Still reusing and refilling a cartridge for the extra volume over the converter (from when buying it still came with a converter rather than having to purchase one separately).

I could make do with this being the only fountain pen in my life without a problem.

Accidentally bought the F nib instead of the M nib, and am not happy with it. However, it's too much of a hassle to return it, so I'm trying to live with it. Since this is a Metropolitan, even the F nib writes well, but it is scratchier than my Metropolitan M nibs are.

This is one of the best fountain pens I own. It writes well, doesn't skip, and I will be buying more of them.

Bought this one for my wife who grew up in Germany and always used fountain pens. She mostly used Lamy, Pelikan, and Faber-Castel and loves this Pilot.
